After receiving her doctorate in psychology from the University of Rhode Island, Evers helped found Pro-Change Behavior Systems Inc. in 1999. There, she focused her work on developing and promoting health-behavior-change programs.
Her greatest professional accomplishments include obtaining Pro-Change’s first Small Business Innovative Research Program funding from the National Institutes of Health in 1998 and playing an integral role in awarding many of the company’s major corporate contracts, including its largest with Healthways.
Evers, 39, has also received several contracts from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to examine how Internet use has affected behavior change. In 2009, she was one of 20 experts to participate in the foundation’s Forum on the Future Impact of Neuroscience and Behavior Change.
Her reputation has grown throughout the behavioral-science field, completing roughly 40 published works and speaking at nearly 100 conferences in more than 10 countries. She has been tapped numerous times to review grant applications and journals.
Her work has also been recognized by military leaders. In 2008, Evers was tapped by the U.S. Office of the Secretary of Defense as one of 50 leaders from across the nation to participate in 76th Joint Civilian Orientation Conference. In 2009, she was asked to attend the 56th Annual National Security Forum at the Air War College.
Evers also looks to influence change in the community. She is on the board of directors for South Kingstown CARES, a nonprofit volunteer organization that supports the town’s school district. She has also worked for several other local nonprofits. •
