RE/MAX Rhode Island recently held the 25th annual RE/MAX Open Golf Tournament, which raised $7,500 for Rhode Island Hospital’s breast cancer research program. The event was held in the memory of Ilene Winegard, broker/owner of RE/MAX Heritage in East Providence, who passed away in April.

“The RE/MAX Open Golf Tournament is a long-standing tradition in Rhode Island,” said Karen Sechio, director of marketing for RE/MAX Rhode Island. “We are proud to partner with our RE/MAX colleagues throughout Rhode Island to help raise money for Rhode Island Hospital and breast cancer awareness in memory of our colleague and friend, Ilene.”

Winegard has served as broker/owner of RE/MAX Heritage for eight years. During that time, she co-chaired the Think Pink RE/MAX fundraising effort, which resulted in nearly $200,000 being raised for Dr. Maureen Chung’s breast cancer research at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Chung is a researcher and surgical oncologist at Rhode Island Hospital and an associate professor of surgery at Brown University. •
