THE LONG-AWAITED 38 Studios court documents are slated to be released this afternoon.

PROVIDENCE – More than 1,500 files containing depositions and court records from the high-profile 38 Studios lawsuit will be unsealed Thursday afternoon, according to a court spokesman.
The court announced Thursday afternoon the documents would be handed out to the media and members of the public at 3 p.m. in Superior Court in Providence. The contents of these records comprise 1,300 files of depositions and another 242 files of court records.
Initially, the documents will handed out in DVD format, but a court spokesman wrote in an email that “shortly after the initial distribution of discs, the files will be posted on the Internet at a time and web address to be announced.”
The court documents could shed light on what went wrong with the state’s investment into 38 Studios LLC, a video game company that went bankrupt in 2012 and left Rhode Island taxpayers on the hook for making good on a $75 million loan guarantee.
The company was owned by famed Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who is one of many defendants in the case.
