PROVIDENCE – Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed this month announced the presentation of a $50,000 legislative grant to help support an innovative, Internet-based computer network for the three communities on Aquidneck Island.
According to a news release, the funding will allow Newport, Middletown and Portsmouth to share technology resources on the statewide Ocean State Higher Education Economic Development and Administrative Network, or OSHEAN.
OSHEAN is a nonprofit coalition of universities, hospitals, government agencies and other nonprofit organizations providing Internet-based technology for its member institutions and the communities they serve. •
