1You were formerly with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. What made you want to come across the country to work at Women & Infants?

This is a premier institution in the field of women’s health. This is a great opportunity for someone who does reproductive medicine.

2How did you get into reproduction and infertility care, and what about your experience makes you qualified for this position?

I initially was drawn to OB/GYN as a medical student. It is a multifaceted field with great medicine and surgery, the opportunity to provide immediate resolution for a patient’s problems and overall a gratifying medical specialty. I was then drawn to reproductive endocrinology and infertility as a subspecialty as I was enthralled with the art and science of helping couples achieve their dream of having a family. That’s when I completed additional fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health.

3Are you bringing any new initiatives or strategies to the division?

Absolutely. We plan to enhance our fertility preservation program, both for cancer patients and for women who electively wish to freeze their eggs for the future. We also plan to grow the genetic testing of embryos to help patients achieve a healthy pregnancy outcome.

4Is the division growing?

The division is definitely growing. We plan to expand both the nature of services by increasing genetic testing, in vitro maturation, offering oocyte (egg) cryopreservation to preserve fertility both electively and in patients with cancer.

5Why should patients seeking reproduction and/or infertility services choose your division/Women & Infants over any other health care institution?

Women & Infants Hospital has long been a premier institution that is looked to nationally as a leader in innovation in the care of women and their families. Fertility services are provided in a cutting-edge and compassionate way. Our physicians have more than 100 years of combined experience in the field. Our lab is located right here in Providence. Why would anyone want to travel to have their treatment and procedures done when they have such an institution right here in Rhode Island? •
