A2B releases white paper on IUID benefits

PORTSMOUTH – A2B Tracking Solutions, a provider of enterprise software and services for the U.S. Department of Defense IUID program, has released white paper illustrating that managing unique items through serialized item management has “tremendous pay-back.”

The white paper, “Achieve a Greater ROI Using IUID,” cites “real world case studies” where IUID methodology and serialized item management resulted in “impressive returns on investment,” said the company.

IUID, which stands for item unique identification, was first mandated by the DoD to enable asset visability. It requires not only the identification, marking and registration of all legacy military equipment, but also requires DoD contractors to mark and register deliverable assets and DoD assets in their position.

“The result has been a groundswell of awareness, among a large number of organizations, of the benefits of asset lifecycle management and real-time item tracking,” said a A2B Tracking release.

“The Mission Critical Asset Existence and Completeness Audit is a high priority of the [Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness] directorate,” A2B President Peter Collins said in prepared remarks. “Secretary Panetta has set a 2017 completion date for that audit, adding to the realization that organizations can no longer afford duplication and waste of assets. This white paper is a great tool for investigating where waste occurs in an organization and how it can quickly be eliminated.”
