AAA: Gas prices drop again in R.I., Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island and Massachusetts continued their downward spiral, dropping 13 cents and 11 cents, respectively, from last week, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s latest survey found that self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island is averaging $2.63 per gallon, a decrease of 13 cents from last week. Locally, prices are 33 cents lower than a month ago, but 23 cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.40. A year ago, Rhode Island’s average price was 90 cents higher at $3.53.

Unleaded regular gasoline prices range from $2.35 to $2.87. Average per-gallon prices for different grades of self-serve gas ranged from $2.92 for midgrade unleaded to $3.07 for premium unleaded and $3.28 for diesel.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.58 per gallon. Locally, prices in the Bay State are 30 cents lower than a month ago, but 18 cents more than the national average. A year ago, the Massachusetts average price was 87 cents higher at $3.45.

The price range for unleaded regular in Massachusetts is $2.39 to $2.79. Average per-gallon prices for different grades of self-serve gas ranged from $2.86 for midgrade unleaded to $2.99 for premium unleaded and $3.32 for diesel.
