AAA: Gas prices fall in R.I., hold steady in Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gas prices fell 2 cents in Rhode Island this week, but stayed the same in Massachusetts, AAA Northeast said Tuesday.

AAA Northeast said self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.19 per gallon this week in the Ocean State, 2 cents lower than last week and 2 cents less than the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 15 cents higher at $2.34.
Unleaded regular ranges from $2.08 to $2.47, with the price of other grades averaging as follows: midgrade unleaded, $2.44; premium unleaded, $2.64; and diesel, $2.43.
Self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.12 per gallon in the Bay State – the same as last week. The Massachusetts price is 9 cents below the national average. A year ago, the average price in Massachusetts was 16 cents higher at $2.28.
Prices for unleaded regular in Massachusetts range from $1.97 to $2.99, with midgrade unleaded at $2.41; premium unleaded at $2.58; and diesel, $2.38.
