PROVIDENCE – For the fourth consecutive week, gasoline prices rose in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, jumping 7 and 10 cents, respectively, AAA Northeast said Monday.

Rhode Island’s price is 5 cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.05. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 37 cents higher at $2.37.
“Rebounding crude oil prices, seasonal increases in fuel demand and reduced production due to refinery maintenance continue to be major factors in higher pump prices,” Lloyd P. Albert, AAA senior vice president of public and government affairs, said in a statement.
Prices in the Ocean State range from $1.87 to $2.07, with midgrade unleaded at $2.23; premium unleaded at $2.41 and diesel at $2.12.
