AAA: Gas prices rise 2 cents in R.I., hold steady in Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island increased 2 cents this week, but stayed the same in Massachusetts, AAA Northeast said Monday.
AAA said self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.25 per gallon in Rhode Island, which matches the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 4 cents lower at $2.21.
Prices range from $2.19 to $2.39, with midgrade unleaded at $2.57; premium unleaded at $2.73; and diesel at $2.52.
In Massachusetts, the price of self-serve, regular unleaded held steady at $2.14 per gallon, which is 11 cents below the national average, but 4 cents higher than the Massachusetts price a year ago.
Prices in the Bay State range from $1.99 to $2.29, with midgrade unleaded at $2.38; premium unleaded at $2.55; and diesel at $2.36.
