PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices climbed 2 cents in Rhode Island and 4 cents in Massachusetts from last week, according to AAA Northeast.
That marks the third week in a row that the price of gasoline has increased in Rhode Island, and the second for Massachusetts, AAA Northeast said.
Self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.81 per gallon in Rhode Island. Prices locally are 11 cents higher than a month ago, and a penny higher than the national average for regular unleaded at $2.80. A year ago, Rhode Island’s average price was $3.74.
Prices range from $2.71 to $2.99. Other prices of gasoline are as follows; $3.02, midgrade unleaded; $3.15, premium unleaded; and $2.98, diesel.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.77 per gallon.
Locally, prices are 10 cents higher than a month ago, but 3 cents less than the national average. A year ago, the Massachusetts average price was 92 cents higher at $3.69.
Prices range from $2.62 to $2.95 in Massachusetts. Other grades of gasoline are as follows: $2.97, midgrade unleaded; $3.11, premium unleaded; and $2.98, diesel.
AAA offered the following fuel-saving tip of the week: light exterior and interior colors, and legally tinted windows can reduce heat buildup and save on air conditioning needs.
