PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices dropped again in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, according to AAA Southern New England’s weekly survey.
In Rhode Island, prices dropped for the sixth week in a row. Self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.29 per gallon, 11 cents less than the price the previous week. Locally, prices are 20 cents lower than a month ago, but 10 cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $3.19.
A year ago at this time, Rhode Island’s average price was 18 cents higher at $3.47, according to AAA.
Prices range in Rhode Island from $3.12 to $3.50 for regular unleaded. Average per-gallon prices for different grades of gas ranged from $3.56 for mid-grade unleaded to $3.67 for premium unleaded and $3.78 for diesel.

“Low demand combined with abundant supply has kept downward pressure on global oil prices, which is translating into lower prices for motorists at the pump,” Lloyd P. Albert, AAA Southern New England senior vice president of public and government affairs, said in a statement.
In Massachusetts, gasoline prices fell 6 cents from last week, representing the fifth consecutive week of declines.
The average price for self-serve, regular unleaded was $3.27 per gallon, 17 cents lower than a month ago. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was 12 cents higher at $3.39.
Unleaded regular prices in Massachusetts range from $3.05 to $3.53. Average per-gallon prices for different grades of gas ranged from $3.51 for mid-grade unleaded to $3.63 for premium unleaded and $3.71 for diesel.
