PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Film & Television Office announced Tuesday that the new ABC series “Body of Proof” will be filmed entirely in Rhode Island, a decision applauded by state officials because of the jobs and revenue they say it will bring.
“We are extremely proud to announce this great news,” Steven Feinberg, director of the film and TV office, said in a statement. “More jobs will be immediately available to our local crew and talent pool. The production will quickly feed new money into our state’s small businesses and help pump up Rhode Island’s economy.”
Pre-production will begin immediately in Warwick, and ABC Studios will begin filming episodes throughout Rhode Island in July, Feinberg said. The pilot for the show, previously titled “Body of Evidence,” was filmed in Rhode Island earlier this year.
“Body of Proof” is scheduled to air on ABC on Friday nights starting this fall. It will tell the story of a “brilliant and tenacious” female medical examiner whose interest in solving crimes puts her at odds with her colleagues and the police, according to ABC. Dana Delany and Jeri Ryan are the co-stars.

State officials, particularly Feinberg, have been working behind the scenes for several months to get “Body of Proof” filmed in Rhode Island, so today’s news marks a victory for them.
In a news release, House Speaker Gordon D. Fox noted that the budget passed last week by the General Assembly would maintain the state’s 25 percent tax credit for film and TV productions made in Rhode Island. Gov. Donald L. Carcieri had proposed scrapping the credit.
“The continuation of the television and film tax incentive program created by the General Assembly played a major role in securing this television series for our state,” Fox said.
Having “Body of Proof” filmed in Rhode Island “can help Rhode Island workers through jobs and internships in the film industry, use of Rhode Island vendors and the promotion of our state through greater exposure of its many magnificent locations,” Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed said.
