AS220 radio show lands $75,000

PROVIDENCE – The AS220 radio show, Action Speaks – Under Appreciated Dates that Changed America, landed a $75,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, AS220 announced Thursday.

The 16-year-old live event and radio broadcast series was one of three national recipients of the 2012 America’s Media Makers development grant.

“One of Providence’s most valuable attributes is the city’s diverse cultural attractions, and AS220 has made wonderful contributions through its many arts and education offerings that help ensure the city remains an appealing place to live and work into the future,” Rep. James R. Langevin said in prepared remarks.

The radio show brings experts from around the country to Providence for a “public forum examining the historical context and contemporary ramifications of less frequently explored moments in American History,” according to a release.
