ATOM Media Group pitches tourism, business campaign

WEST WARWICK – ATOM Media Group is pitching “Whatever You Do … Rhode Island” as its answer to the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation’s request for proposals for a Rhode Island tourism and business attraction branding campaign.
Michael Mota, CEO of AMG, explained the slogan.
“Whatever you choose to do, whether it’s enjoying the diverse delights of one of North America’s most treasured coastlines and bays, touring the birthplaces of our country’s religious and political freedoms and the Industrial Revolution, experiencing museums, galleries and unforgettable fine and performing arts venues, dining in world-renowned restaurants, indulging in the sporting life, creating a business, raising and educating a family – whatever you do – you can do it magnificently here in Rhode Island,” Mota said in a statement.

He said that if AMG wins the contract, all creative and production fees will be waived, an amount he estimated would be in excess of $1 million. He said his company also would earmark the entire $5 million that has been appropriated through the budget for a consultant for national media buys in major markets around the country, to spread the word about Rhode Island.
In addition, Mota said the proposal features what he calls a “people’s campaign.”
“We will ask all stakeholders in Rhode Island’s cultural and economic well-being, wherever they may live and work, to support a dedicated ‘Whatever You Do … Rhode Island’ crowd funding initiative. Their contributions will go directly to support campaign media buys,” Mota said.

Mota said that if his company is awarded, he plans to add five jobs over the next two years. He also has created a website about the plan, www.whateveryoudori.com.
Commerce RI Secretary Stefan Pryor told Providence Business News last month that if a marketing consultant is hired by Aug. 31, the state tourism brand could launch in January.
“We are inviting branding and marketing professionals to pitch us on their experience and expertise as well as potentially their best concepts,” he told Providence Business News. “We aim to produce a top-notch campaign that when compared to other states’ efforts is outstanding [in] promoting tourism and business attraction and succeeding in producing images that are both positive and memorable.”
Mota, in June, filed a lawsuit against Alex and Ani jewelry company, its founder and CEO Carolyn Rafaelian, its general counsel and Senior Vice President Suzanne Kelly and Seven Swords Media LLC alleging sexual discrimination, false imprisonment, creating a hostile work environment and emotional distress. Mota is a former executive at the now-defunct Seven Swords Media, a subsidiary of Alex and Ani.
