AT&T expands mobile internet network in R.I.

PROVIDENCE – AT&T has expanded its mobile internet wireless capacity and coverage in southern Rhode Island with the completion of a new initiative.

The mobile carrier expects the additional spectrum to improve the connectivity and performance of mobile internet data and voice, according to a release.

The network enhancement adds new carriers to eight cell sites throughout Narragansett, South Kingstown, Newport, Middletown and Jamestown.

“Whether they’re strolling along Bellevue Avenue in Newport or lounging on a beach in South County, our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience where they live, work and vacation,” Steve Krom, AT&T vice president and general manager for New England said in prepared remarks.
