AT&T names new New England president

Posted:

BOSTON – AT&T announced Monday that Patricia Jacobs has been named president of AT&T New England.

Jacobs takes over for William Leahy, who now oversees the telecommunications giant’s legislative strategy for all 50 states.

Jacobs, formerly regional vice president for international affairs, will oversee the company's legislative and regulatory objectives, as well as the public and external affairs strategies in Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.

“Patricia is an experienced leader with a deep understanding of how to work with government at the local, state, federal and international levels,” said Leahy.

“As a native New Englander, she brings not only an impressive telecommunications resume but knowledge of what makes this part of the country such a remarkable place to live and work.”

Jacobs, born in North Kingstown and raised in Brunswick, Maine, will work out of Boston. Before working at AT&T, she served as an aide to Congressman Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., and as staff of the Massachusetts Senate’s Commerce and Labor Committee.

She hold a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin; and a master’s and Ph.D. in International Politics from Boston College.
