SMITHFIELD – Academy-award winning actress Geena Davis will serve as one of three keynote speakers at the 20th annual Bryant University Women’s Summit on March 17, according to a release by the school Wednesday.

Davis, a Wareham, Mass. native and Academy Award winner, advocates on behalf of women and girls through the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. The nonprofit organization works to integrate more diverse female roles in entertainment for children younger than 11.

Davis will be the closing speaker at the summit.

A U.S. Navy veteran and Air Force Academy faculty member, Mary Kelly, whose expertise lies in leadership, productivity, communication and profit growth, will open the event. She will be followed by 2011 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Leymah Gbowee, the author of Mighty Be Our Powers which chronicles the efforts of Christian and Muslim women to help end the Liberian civil war.
