PROVIDENCE – Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee has nominated Jerauld C. Adams as the vice chair to the R.I. Economic Development Corporation board.

Adams owns the Hemphill Mill in Central Falls, a studio space for small-scale artists.

He will replace Helena Foulkes as vice chair of the board. Foulkes resigned from the quasi-state agency last month after the fall out from former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling’s failed videogame company 38 Studios LLC.

At a press conference in May, Chafee said that he had “encouraged” all EDC board members who voted for the 38 Studios deal to step down, adding that he felt it was “time for a change in the board.”

Since then, he has nominated six members to the 13-member board, which he chairs.
