Additional public tours of ‘Superman’ building scheduled

PROVIDENCE – Public tours of the “Superman” building at 111 Westminster St. are being offered again.

This is third time building owner David Sweetser of High Rock Development is offering tours of the 26-story building, the tallest in the state.

The vault, banking hall and 25th floor, featuring views of the city, will be highlighted during the 45-minute tours, led by the High Rock team.

Previous tours were booked quickly.

According to a press release from High Rock, the tours are part of a continued effort to provide public access to the structure, officially known as the Industrial Trust building.
The latest tours will be held on Saturdays, Feb. 18 and March 4. Each date will have tours at 10 and 11 a.m, noon, and 2 and 3 p.m.

Each time slot will be able to accommodate 30 people for a total of 150 attendees each Saturday.

Participants will be given a complimentary T-shirt and a pair of binoculars.

Reservations can only be made online at savesupermanri.eventbrite.com. The reservation website will go live on Feb. 14.

The Industrial Trust Building is commonly known as the Superman building for its resemblance to the structure in comic books and the old television series. It has been closed since 2013 when Bank of America Corp. left the space.
