While the Providence-Warwick metropolitan area was one of only five of the 15 metros in New England to show GDP growth from 2013 to 2014 (in constant dollars) greater than 1 percent, at 1.52 percent it was still well below the national average for metro areas of 2.32 percent, as well as the 2.88 percent and 2.6 percent posted by Manchester-Nashua, N.H., and Boston-Cambridge-Newton, Mass.-N.H., respectively. Still, the most recent growth in Providence-Warwick does represent an acceleration from the decade-long average of 0.28 percent for the region.
