Aite: Emerging markets, rising fund flows expected

Posted 2/26/13

BOSTON – Among the trends expected to impact institutional securities and investments in 2013 are investor fund flows rising and shifting to emerging markets, according to Boston-based Aite Group, which provides strategic advice on IT, business and regulatory issues in the financial services industry.

The evolution of a high-frequency trading market and the potential for market structure consolidation are also likely to affect institutional investments and securities.

Trends expected to impact retail banking 2013 include financial institutions embracing the “cloud,” interchange wars and the evolving point of sale.

The insurance business is expected to see significant change in 2013, with health insurance exchanges going mainstream, industry-wide product distribution consolidation, and the property and casualty industry leveraging big data, according to the Aite outlook.
