Alex and Ani CEO to be honored at MS fundraiser

PROVIDENCE – Race to Erase MS will honor Carolyn Rafaelian, founder, CEO and chief creative officer of accessories brand Alex and Ani, with its 2016 Medal of Hope Award at the 23rd annual Race to Erase MS gala on April 15.
Taking place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the gala, now in its 23rd year, has raised $36 million for Race to Erase MS and its Center Without Walls program. The event includes a silent auction, dinner and live musical performances.
Through the Cupcake Bangle, which Alex and Ani created exclusively for Race to Erase MS in 2012, 20 percent of the purchase price is directly donated to the organization. To date, more than $905,000 has been raised to help fund and further the mission.
“Her company has been instrumental in accelerating our mission to find a cure for multiple sclerosis as well as providing inspiration and hope to so many with this disease,” said Nancy Davis, founder of the Race to Erase MS and host for the gala. “She is an unsung hero to so many causes around the world as she continues to fund millions of dollars towards worthy missions. We are blessed to be one of them and thrilled to recognize her compassion for so many.”
Race to Erase MS is dedicated to the treatment and ultimate cure for MS. Funding research is the core focus of the foundation and significant strides have been made to find the cause and cure of this disease.
Since the event’s inception 23 years ago, the race has been instrumental in funding many pilot studies that have contributed to drugs now on the market and other important therapies that are improving the lives of people suffering from MS.
All funds raised support the race’s Center Without Walls program, a unique collaboration of the world’s leading MS research scientists currently representing Harvard, Yale, Cedars Sinai, University of Southern California, Oregon Health Science University, UC San Francisco and Johns Hopkins.
Tickets to the 23rd annual Race to Erase MS Gala start at $1,000 and tables start at $10,000. To purchase tickets for the event, contact info@erasems.org or (310) 440-4842.
