PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island will be represented at two separate TED events, with Dennis Rebelo and Giovanni Feroce presenting at a TEDxPublic Street event and Rhode Island School of Design President John Maeda speaking at April’s TEDMED conference.

At the TEDxPublic Street event in Providence this month, Rebelo, president of Alex and Ani University Professional Development Center LLC and Feroce, CEO of Alex and Ani, will “stimulate dialogue about “peak storytelling” and their changing roles as company leaders.

According to a release, Feroce also plans to share his “reality management” philosophy, which drives his communications strategies and daily operations at Alex and Ani.

The TEDx event will take place on Jan. 20 at the MET School, at 325 Public St. in Providence. The event’s theme is “ideas revisited,” according to a release, and it will feature speakers sharing how they have been working in their respective fields to reshape the world in years to come.

“This TEDx event hits New England at the right time – a time when organizational leaders need to rethink what it means to be human at work,” said Rebelo in prepared remarks.

The event is open to the public, but space is limited. Tickets are available for $30 and may be purchased through Alex and Ani University’s website. On-site registration will begin at noon on the 20th. The event contains three 80-minute sessions starting at 1 p.m. and will conclude with a reception at 5:50 p.m.

In a separate TED event, RISD President John Maeda will discuss “How can design principles lead to more discovery and better treatment?”

TEDMED is an annual multi-disciplinary gather at which leaders from all sectors and industries come together to discuss the “promise of technology and potential of human achievement in health and medicine,” according to a release.

Maeda was named as one of the first 10 of more than 50 speakers at the April, Washington, D.C.-based event.

The annual TEDMED event will take place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington from April 16-19.
