CRANSTON – Alex and Ani’s Charity by Design division has awarded $20 million since its inception in February 2011 to 44 charitable organizations, Alex and Ani LLC announced Tuesday in a press release.
Alex and Ani’s Charity by Design division selects partners that focus on either the environment, community development or health and wellness. When the partnership is established, the company works with the nonprofit organization to create a unique charm that comes with a meaning card to help spread its mission.
“Charity by Design is the heart and soul of Alex and Ani and our goal is to impact as many lives as we possibly can by co-creating with our partners meaningful pieces that deeply resonate with those touched by these causes or who want to support them,” Carolyn Rafaelian, founder, creative director and CEO of Alex and Ani, said in a statement. “The outpouring of love our customers show for these organizations is truly a blessing and demonstrates how positive energy empowers all of us in countless ways.”
Initiatives include ensuring school children are fed; creating access to clean drinking water for families around the globe; providing support to women facing breast cancer; funding research seeking cures for ovarian cancer and leukemia and lymphoma; helping those with mental illness; supplying safety tool kits to thousands of families with autistic members; and providing highly specialized neonatal intensive care.
“When our customers share their love for causes that are near and dear to their own hearts by purchasing symbolic charms that capture the essence of these partners, we are raising both awareness and funds to help the positive works of these organizations,” Nicki Maher, vice president of Alex and Ani | Charity by Design division, said.
Over the last four years, Charity by Design has provided partner organizations with support through customized charm sales, in-store events, sponsorships, in-kind donations, and hundreds of hours of employee volunteerism enabled by the company’s give back time off program.
