CRANSTON – A Rhode Island-based home security and automation business will expand its operations and move from Warwick to Cranston, occupying the former Katherine Gibbs School building.
Alliance Security started the move in the past month. The new location, at 85 Garfield Ave., which had been vacant for three years, is 60,000 square feet. The relocation will allow Alliance to expand its workforce from 300 to 600 employees, according to a news release.
The company, begun in 2003, sells home security and automation systems in 46 states. It did not receive tax incentives to relocate to Cranston. Company owner and CEO Jay Gotra plans to launch a new retail venture in the Warwick space, at 60 Jefferson Park Road, said a spokesman, Joseph Phommasith.
“Simply put, we outgrew our space,” Gotra said in a statement.
Alliance Security revenue increased from $2.5 million in 2010 to $52 million in 2014, according to Phommasith.
The company has a satellite office in Dallas.
