Alzheimer’s planning sessions come to S.K.

Posted 12/17/12

PROVIDENCE – The series of listening sessions for the State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders saw sessions last week in Barrington and Woonsocket, with another planned this week.

The final of six sessions will be held on Dec. 18 in South Kingstown, beginning at 12:30 p.m., at the Peace Dale Library, 1057 Kingstown Rd.

The series has been hosted by Lt. Gov. Elizabeth H. Roberts and Catherine Taylor, director of the R.I. Division of Elderly Affairs. The goal of the series is to gather input for the development of a comprehensive state plan to address Alzheimer’s disease and similar disorders.

At each session, caregivers, health care providers, family members and anyone impacted by the disease is invited to share their story and give input into what needs to be part of a comprehensive state plan. Sessions are free and open to the public. •
