Amazing Charts sees market in continuing education

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Eighty-one percent of physicians surveyed by electronic health record developer Amazing Charts LLC said they would like to see a more direct correlation between continuing medical education and patient outcomes.
The survey, released last week, included responses from 316 Amazing Charts users who completed an online questionnaire between March and July this year. Less than 1 percent of respondents currently pursue continuing education through an EHR system, the company said, demonstrating a significant unmet need in the marketplace for new approaches to continuing medical education delivery.
In addition, 78 percent of respondents agreed with the statement that continuing medical education delivered at the point of care, in the form of decision support, could lend valuable insights into patient management.
“Since Pri-Med and Amazing Charts combined in November 2012, we have been working to push the boundaries of what clinicians can achieve through an EHR system – such as integrating clinical data analytics and [continuing education] to facilitate more prescriptive education, close knowledge gaps and improve patient outcomes,” said John Squire, president and COO of Amazing Charts.
“Our survey points to a clear demand for medical education to help improve the treatment and improvement of patients,” he added. “Beyond using data analytics to help bridge the divide, what’s needed are the technology tools that can help clinicians access personalized education and resources to address the needs of their specific patient population.”
The Amazing Charts User Survey was the second user survey conducted by Amazing Charts LLC. More than 9,600 clinicians in nearly 6,600 private practices currently use Amazing Charts’ EHR technology.
