American Planning Association honors 10

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island chapter of the American Planning Association has recognized 10 people, organizations or projects for outstanding contributions to planning.
The awards represent recognition of success stories, the association said in a news release, and of people who made a difference to the planning profession.
The honorees were:

  • Art Bridges Pawtucket and Pawtucket, for excellence in community engagement
  • Barrington, for outstanding comprehensive plan
  • South Kingstown Planning Board, South Kingstown Village Study of Matunuck and West Kingston, outstanding neighborhood planning
  • South Kingstown Bike-Walk Subcommittee and Citizens of South Kingstown Committed to Health Through Strategic Action, Healthy Places by Design Plan, outstanding plan implementation
  • Pawtucket, Festival Pier Redevelopment, outstanding public space project
  • Ambar Espinoza of Rhode Island Public Radio, journalism and media award
  • Pawtucket Central Falls Development, Blackstone Valley Gateways II, Paul Davidoff Award for projects that help to transform distressed neighborhoods
  • South Kingstown High School Green Team and Tupelo Gardenworks Ltd., South Kingstown High School courtyard and master plan, student award
  • Scott Millar, distinguished leadership award
  • Michael DeLuca, president’s award, for a member who has contributed to the development and objectives of the American Planning Association of Rhode Island
