Amgen honored employee Richard Fitzpatrick, a Providence native, with the 2010 Amgen Excellence in Volunteering Award in Rhode Island. The Amgen Foundation will donate $5,000 to the Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy, where Fitzpatrick was honored for his volunteer efforts.
Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy, president Elli Panichas said, “The community as a whole is grateful to the Amgen Foundation for its assistance in providing resources to strengthen and enrich our community. This award will go far in continuing our work on the Hill and in meeting our goal of saving this unique woodland in Providence for future generations.”
Fitzpatrick is a senior associate in security and emergency services at Amgen. As a volunteer at Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy, he organizes cleanups, leads guided tours, reroutes trails, builds bird houses and constructed natural stadium seating at the summit.
“This is still my neighborhood, and I would like to help improve it,” said Fitzpatrick. &#8226
