Amica clinches top spot in J.D. Power customer satisfaction study

LINCOLN – Amica Mutual Insurance Co. received the highest score among homeowner insurers in the J.D. Power 2013 U.S. Household Insurance and Bundling Study released Sept. 30.

Amica’s score of 842 (out of a possible 1,000) was the highest in the homeowners category of the national study, and 55 points higher than the industry average of 787.

“I want to thank everyone at Amica for the role they play – internally and externally – in providing superb customer service,” said Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica Insurance, in a statement. “As a mutual insurance company, our singular focus on customers continues to be one of our greatest strengths.”

This year’s study, divided into homeowners insurance and renters insurance categories, was based on responses from more than 21,000 customers who may have purchased homeowners, renters, individual life, recreational vehicle, personal liability umbrella or secondary residence insurance.

According to a release, the J.D. Power score is comprised of five factors: interaction, policy offerings, price, billing, and payment and claims.

This is the 12th consecutive year that Lincoln-based Amica has ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among National Homeowners Insurers.” State Farm (with a score of 813) and Auto-Owners Insurance (with a score of 812) claimed second and third place in the 2013 study, respectively.
