Amica gives $41K to Boston Children’s

BOSTON – As part of the Amica Game Ball Program, the Lincoln-based Amica Insurance donated $41,000 to Boston Children’s Hospital at a recent Boston Celtics game.
Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica, presented the check to Dick Argys, senior vice president and CAO of Boston Children’s Hospital.
Including this donation, Amica’s gifts during the last seven years total $259,000.
“On behalf of everyone at Amica Insurance, I’m proud to present this check to Boston Children’s Hospital,” DiMuccio said. “Boston Children’s does such wonderful work for its patients and their families, and we are more than happy to lend our support.”
Carola Cadley, vice president of corporate development at the hospital trust, said the organization “is extremely grateful” for the continued support from Amica Insurance over the past seven years.
“Amica’s continued generosity speaks to the commitment of their employees, as well as their outstanding commitment to serving children in their community,” Cadley said.
The Amica Game Ball Program invites one patient from Boston Children’s Hospital to attend a Boston Celtics game each season. In February, 16-year-old Connor Garland of Belgrade, Maine, was Amica’s special guest.
Garland, who plays basketball and baseball at Messalonskee High School in Oakland, Maine, sustained multiple injuries after a hayride accident last October. He had been transported from a hospital in Maine to the Boston hospital in the middle of the night.
Garland and his family met Celtics legend Tommy Heinsohn, watched courtside as the players warm up and enjoyed the game from a suite at TD Garden.
Garland and his family expressed gratitude for the care they received while at the hospital.
