PROVIDENCE – Amica Mutual Insurance Co. has partnered with Crossroads Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and the United Way of Rhode Island to kick off the Amica $75,000 Community Challenge.

The challenge encourages people and business in Rhode Island to make donations to the three charitable organizations between Monday, Jan. 14, and Wednesday, Feb. 15. Amica will match those donations, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000 per charity.

The United Way of Rhode Island, located on Valley Street in Providence, focuses on four different areas: education, income, housing and 2-1-1, the primary community information and referral source during a Rhode Island emergency.

The Rhode Island Community Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that solicits, stores and distributes food products donated by supermarkets, wholesalers, food processors, local farmers and community food drives. During the 2012 fiscal year, the food bank distributed roughly 9.75 million pounds of food, according to a release.
