Are the changes that Gov. Carcieri is making with the EDC going to make a difference in job creation in R.I.?

Gov. Donald L. Carcieri announced yesterday the recommendations of an advisory panel he commissioned in December to review the R.I. Economic Development Corporation (EDC). (READ MORE)

At the top of the list of changes is a request for the entire EDC board to resign, as well as the launching of a national search for a new EDC executive director.

In addition, the governor is disbanding the Rhode Island Economic Policy Council under the assumption that it created a less-than-focused economic development approach.

It may take a while for all the new pieces to come into place, but do you think that the new approach will make a difference in the state’s economic performance?
