Art, design coupled in website

When Todd Monjar and Collette Royer met on Match.com two years ago, they shared not only a romantic interest but an idea for creating a meaningful artistic startup.

By May of the following year, Monjar, a photographer and entrepreneur, became president, and Royer, a style consultant and freelance writer, became creative director of FindYourCool.us. The online gallery promotes emerging artists and designers. The couple revamped the website and by August 2014 had launched the business and began selling products, they said.

Focusing on contemporary art, jewelry, photographs and design, FindYourCool takes a 40 percent commission and sells original art as well as high-quality reproductions in runs of no more than 100 pieces from each original work.

Besides working to promote the “creative impulse” and its byproduct, FindYourCool does limited runs to keep the product line fresh, Royer said.

“We don’t want to flood the market with reproductions,” she said. “We want to keep the value and beauty of the art.” •
