Association of Migraine Disorders to host Mad Hatter event

NORTH KINGSTOWN – An “Alice in Wonderland”-themed fundraiser to benefit the Association of Migraine Disorders’ interdisciplinary migraine pathology research will be held at Newport’s Fort Adams State Park on Aug. 7.

Dr. Frederick Godley, president of the AMD, said: “Our theme was chosen in honor of Lewis Carroll, who suffered from a rare type of migraine that is now known as Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. This syndrome affects one’s sense of vision, sensation, touch, hearing and even body image. Many migraine sufferers report experiencing vertigo and disorientation, not unlike how Alice felt when she tumbled into Wonderland.”

Catered by Russell Morin, the event will be held from 4-8 p.m., rain or shine, and is open to the public. The dress code is “smart casual” but attendees are encouraged to wear festive headwear as a tribute to the Mad Hatter theme. There will be also be craft materials for guests to create their own headgear.

Discounted tickets can be purchased can be purchased on amdfundraiser.org with the code AMD75.
