Atrion to hold symposium about workplace culture

PROVIDENCE – The concept of culture, and its significance in the workplace, will be discussed during Atrion’s AlwaysOn Symposium, the company’s one-day thought leadership event, to be held May 20 at the R.I. Convention Center.
“In my early days at Atrion, I never gave much thought to developing culture; in fact the C-word was somewhat taboo,” Atrion CEO Tim Hebert said in a statement. “But frequently companies find themselves in a similar situation, neglecting the importance of culture. They soon realize that though they are not necessarily moving backward, they are certainly not moving forward.”
Speakers at the event include Hebert, along with Maysoon Zayid and Amanda Palmer, who both have been featured at TED talks; and fellow Atrion executives Chief Innovation Officer Chris Poe and Chief Strategy Officer Dave Ramsden.
Each speaker will discuss pillars of a strong culture, including ideology, amazing people and “wow experiences,” according to information from Atrion.
Zayid, who will represent the amazing people pillar, said she is particularly looking forward to talking about the importance of culture.
“Often, people confuse culture with ethnicity but it’s important to show that culture is much more than someone’s language or dress,” she stated. “Culture is all about intersectionality. It is about creating a space where people are free to be the best that they can be. I believe that culture is imperative to any healthy environment and that each person can bring his or her own culture.”
The complimentary event, which attracted more than 500 attendees last year, is open to all Atrion clients and partners. For information or to register, visit www.atrion.net/AOS/Pages/default.aspx.
