Aubin named chairman of Lifespan board of directors

PROVIDENCE – Lawrence A. Aubin has been named chairman of Lifespan’s Board of Directors.
Aubin was elected chairman of Lifespan, the state’s largest health system, at Lifespan’s annual meeting Tuesday.
Aubin is the fifth chairman of the board in Lifespan’s 20-year history. He succeeds Scott Biren Laurans, who served a three-year term as chairman.

Aubin is the president and CEO of Seekonk, Mass.-based Aubin Corp. Since the 1990s, he has been an active fundraiser for Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, and has served as chairman of the Rhode Island Hospital board of trustees.

“Our board of directors could not have chosen a more qualified or committed individual to serve as chairman,” Dr. Timothy J. Babineau, president and CEO of Lifespan, said in a statement. “He was integral in helping raise the philanthropic capital needed to create Hasbro Children’s Hospital, as well as the Child Protection Program that now bears his name.”

Said Aubin, “I am honored and humbled to serve our community in this capacity. … I look forward to working with our talented professional leaders and our passionate, deeply committed board of directors – including our new board members – to sustain this vital resource for the people of southeastern New England.”
