BHC given $200K to build replica barn

WHITINSVILLE, Mass. – Blackstone Heritage Corridor Inc. has been awarded a $200,000 grant from The Champlain Foundations to fund construction of a replica barn at the site of the Captain Wilbur Kelly House and Transportation Museum in the Blackstone River State Park in Lincoln.

“In addition to completing the historic structural landscape of the site, the replica barn will … provide a place for people to gather, hear and learn,” BHC Executive Director Charlene Perkins Cutler said in a statement on Nov. 21.

Funding for the architectural design was largely provided through an agreement with R.I. Department of Environmental Management and the Blackstone River Watershed Council / Friends of the Blackstone. The design was completed in 2016 by Northeast Collaborative Architects. •
