The R.I. Department of Labor and Training and the R.I. Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals are hosting a job fair at the netWORKri career center in Providence on Feb. 7 to Feb. 8.
PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Department of Labor and Training and R.I. Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH) is inviting professional candidates to attend job fairs Thursday and Friday, where it is looking to hire 50 new nurses, nursing assistants and aides.
Interested candidates are asked to bring a valid Rhode Island driver’s license, as well as their resume and copies of appropriate certifications and license. The job fair will take place from Feb. 7 to Feb. 8 at noon until 4 p.m. at the netWORKri One-Stop Career Center at 1 Reservoir Ave. in Providence.
Positions are being offered through the Eleanor Slater Hospital Division in Cranston and Burrillville as well as in the state group home system in order to “maximize staffing capabilities.”
Recruiters will be focused on hiring registered nurses, certified nursing assistants and community living aides. According to a release, some seasonal positions may also lead to permanent employment.
“Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with dedicated and expert medical professionals,”Craig Stenning, BHDDH director, said in a release. While positions are expected to be challenging, Stenning said that the effort is the reward of working in the healthcare profession, “because you are improving the quality of lives of patients with serious medical and psychiatric conditions.”
Through its specialized divisions, BHDDH provides access to developmental disability, mental health and substance abuse services to Rhode Islanders. Its auxiliary mission is to “address the stigma”that follows such disabilities.
