Baker signs legislation raising EITC in Mass.

BOSTON – Gov. Charlie D. Baker has signed legislation enacting a 50 percent increase in the Massachusetts Earned Income Tax Credit for more than 400,000 working individuals and families.

The bill increases the Massachusetts Earned Income Tax Credit from 15 percent to 23 percent of the federal EITC, extending the maximum state credit from $951 to $1,459 and creating as much as $500 in additional support for those who are eligible.

“We are proud to deliver critical tax relief for more than 400,000 hardworking individuals and their families who drive economic development and growth in the commonwealth,” Baker said in a statement.
