PROVIDENCE – Bank of America Merrill Lynch recently provided a $5 million investment in new markets and historic tax credits to help the nonprofit WaterFire rehabilitate a warehouse in the Valley neighborhood.
WaterFire, known for its spectacular art shows in Providence, is turning the Valley Street building into a community arts facility where it will consolidate operations and personnel presently spread out between six locations throughout the city.
The building will include a public gallery space for performances and exhibitions. WaterFire also plans to establish youth development programs in arts, education and boat-building and host an international center for excellence for creative place making to include a public art incubator and learning lab, according to a press release.
