BankFive recently announced the launch of a fundraising drive with the goal of purchasing a van for the Southeastern Massachusetts Veterans Housing Program Inc., also known as the Veterans Transition House.
“When BankFive learned that the Veterans Transition House needed a van, we immediately started brainstorming how we could help,” said William R. Eccles, president and CEO of BankFive. “Our hope is that area businesses and residents will rally together for this worthy cause, so that we can mutually raise enough funds to meet the needs of this organization that does so much for our local veterans.
The Veterans Transition House, which has operated on the philosophy of “Hand Up, not a Hand Out” since 1990, provides affordable and secure housing for homeless and at-risk veterans, in addition to services such as counseling, case management, employment training and transportation.
The fundraiser, which kicked off Veterans Day 2011, will continue through Memorial Day 2012. BankFive will match all donations dollar-for-dollar. •
