BankNewport President and CEO Sandra J. Pattie, as well as Vice President and Warren Branch Manager Antonio Rego, recently visited the Corliss Institute Inc.’s service site following the bank’s awarding of a $10,000 grant to Corliss.
The Corliss Institute is a Warren-based organization that provides residential and day-support services to developmentally disabled adults. It serves clients in Bristol County and throughout the Ocean State, offering a specialization in those with deafness or hearing loss.
The Corliss Institute will use the funds to support enhanced staff-training programs, which will help bring the institute’s services into compliance with new regulations and guidelines for assistance and benefit programs. Through increased staff training and knowledge, Corliss aims to provide its staff with a greater capacity to help clients enter or continue to be a part of the paid workforce.
In addition to the grant, BankNewport provided Corliss with 12 LCD computer monitors to enhance technology-based developmental-learning activities at the nonprofit. •
