BankNewport held several collection drives to benefit families in need this holiday season.
The bank partnered with MIXX-FM 99.3 and WADK-AM 1540 to hold four Stuff the Truck events. On certain Saturdays in November and December, a truck parked outside different branch locations to collect food donations for the Jonnycake Center, the East Greenwich Interfaith Food Cupboard and the North Kingstown Food Pantry.
The final stuffed truck was filled with toys to benefit the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.
BankNewport employees also raised $460 during a bake sale to benefit the MLK community center and Riverwood Mental Health Services. Each organization received 23 gift cards (in $10 denominations) to Shaw’s and Stop & Shop.
Additionally, as a year-end contribution, the bank presented $570 to the MLK community center for its Feed A Friend Food Pantry.
The pantry supplies frozen and nonperishable food products, as well as hygienic products to families in need around Newport County once a month. •
