BankNewport employees recently presented donations totaling $450 to Newport Hospital’s Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation (the STAR Program), during the bank’s “Dress Casual for a Cause” program, where employees donate for the opportunity to dress casual on Fridays during a designated month.
BankNewport employees selected the STAR Program, which is nationally recognized for helping cancer survivors heal both physically and emotionally, as the recipient of the funds. The STAR program is a multidisciplinary approach to treating survivors of all types of cancer and provides individualized treatment plans to address the specific needs of each patient, including a review of diet, sleep issues, pain and discomfort, endurance, strength, exercise habits and emotional outlook.
“The goal of the STAR Program is to deliver state-of-the-art cancer rehabilitation services to survivors – whether they are in remission, living with cancer or cured. Cancer touches us all, and we deeply appreciate the employees of BankNewport designating their contributions to this important program,” said Lianne Pinheiro, chief development officer at Newport Hospital. •
