NEWPORT – BankNewport President-elect, Sandra J. Pattie recently presented employee donations totaling $1,307 to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, representing the proceeds raised during the bank’s “Casual for a Cause” program, where employees give donations for the opportunity to dress casual on Fridays during a specific month.

BankNewport employees chose the Rhode Island Community Food Bank to receive the casual day donations to coincide with its “Feed The Need” winter community food drive which collected more than three-quarters of a ton of food for local families in need.

All BankNewport branches served as collection locations for the 1,576 pounds of nonperishable donations that were needed most at the food bank. Donations included canned meats, soups, fruits and vegetables, along with rice, cereals, peanut butter, beans and whole wheat pasta.
