BankNewport recently presented a $5,000 grant to the Newport Art Museum to support its Community Arts Enrichment Program, an after-school program offered in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County has been partnering with the Newport Art Museum on arts enrichment programs since 1992. The Community Arts Enrichment Program provides local youth with the opportunity to make and explore art as a part of the Boys & Girls Clubs’ goal to provide age-appropriate activities that improve social skills, health and community involvement. The program is offered at the Church Street Clubhouse, as well as the Florence Gray Center and Oxbow Farms Club locations.

Sandra J. Pattie, president and CEO of BankNewport, along with Newport Art Museum Executive Director Elizabeth Goddard and former Director of Education Shawn Parker, recently visited the Church Street club to view the program. Parker’s successor, E. Maggie Anderson, will oversee the Community Arts Enrichment Program. •
