In celebration of its new East Greenwich location, BankNewport recently donated $500 to the East Greenwich Housing Authority. The donation was presented by Walter Monroe, vice president and East Greewich branch manager, BankNewport, to East Greenwich Housing Authority Executive Director Marcia Sullivan.
The East Greenwich Housing Authority had been designated as the recipient of the donation as a part of the East Greenwich branch’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. Invitations to the ceremony included a special card; for each card collected from attendees at the ceremony, the bank would contribute to the housing authority.
Each year, the East Greenwich Housing Authority provides assistance to roughly 200 residents with low incomes in East Greenwich. The donation will be used to support the Authority’s resident services, including part-time homemakers for seniors, social activities for its elderly and disabled housing residents, education and training seminars for parents, an annual holiday toy drive and a children’s party. &#8226
