After extending a $5,000 grant in support of academic tutoring and after-school programs made possible by the Star Kids Scholarship Program, representatives recently stopped by All Saints Academy in Middletown to join students participating in an afterschool sewing class.
During the visit, students showed off the sewing projects they’ve been working on.
The Star Kids Scholarship Program provides support to effective nonpublic schools and their students through tuition aid, uniforms, after-school and summer programs, and tutoring and mentoring. The program serves children from Newport County, Fall River and New Bedford, with the goal of helping to ensure they’ll graduate from high school.
According to the bank, “after-school activities and the availability of academic support are important aspects of the Star Kids Scholarship Program.”
In addition to the sewing class, other Star Kids activities include music instruction and recitals, plays, writing workshops, ski and snowboard lessons and team sports. •
